Best Practices: Submitting Applications

Written by Winnie Penkethman

When applying to meet with a vendor or Sage on Sagetap, it is important to give them as much context as you are able to via your profile, Initiatives, and application.

This ensures that they are able to get a clear picture of what you are looking to get out of the call, and allows them to quickly determine if you are a good match.

Profile Quality

Initiatives

Having one or more Initiatives published on your profile is the best way to relay to vendors or Sages what solutions you are looking to adopt or learn about, making it immediately clear if their product is a good fit for what you are looking for, or if a conversation would be fruitful.

Note: Learn more about what Initiatives are and how to best utilize them here.

Profile Completeness

Prior to submitting applications, it is best to ensure your profile is completely filled out. This means that you have:

  • Shared your work details (this does not include your place of employment)

  • Described your organization and role

  • Added your cloud environment

  • Added 5 or more areas of expertise

  • Added three or more tools you are currently using

  • Added 3 or more tech interests

  • Published 2 or more active Initiatives

  • Pinned 5 or more Q&As to your profile

Profile Badges

In addition to your profile Verification Badge, there are other badges that can be earned by participating in meetings on Sagetap. These badges are:

  • Evaluator: +10% of sessions convert to next steps

  • Heavy Evaluator: +25% of sessions convert to next steps

  • Verified Buyer: Has purchased a product via Sagetap

Profile Accuracy

It is important to make certain your profile is up to date on a regular basis. Should you change roles or place of employment, we request that these changes are reflected on your profile as soon as possible.

Application Quality

The quality of your application plays a significant role in your acceptance rate from vendors.

Vendors appreciate thoughtful, specific answers to their questionnaire questions. We recommend avoiding yes/no answers and generic responses when possible.

We understand that providing detailed answers to all vendor questions can take some time, so to lessen the lift of applying, Sages have access to an Answer Bank. This contains every answer previously submitted, which can be pulled from to make for an easy and seamless application process.

The link to your answer bank is just below the answer fields on an application. Click Insert Previous Answer to view all previously submitted answers.

You can add answers to a Favorites folder, and see answers that are recommended based on the questions in the vendor questionnaire.

Note: We discourage relying heavily on ChatGPT when filling out a Vendor questionnaire, as this conveys a lack of genuine interest to the Vendor.
