Q: Who are Sages?
A: Sages are verified technology leaders focused on Security, AI/ML, Engineering, IT, Data & Cloud within major organizations. They join Sagetap to stay ahead of the innovation curve—learning about emerging solutions, identifying opportunities through peer-driven insights, and adopting technology with confidence.
Sages hold titles primarily at the Director, VP, and CxO level and come from companies across North America, with a growing presence in EMEA.
Q: How many Sages are in your network?
A: There are currently over 5,000 verified Sages in our network and growing rapidly.
Q: Why do Sages participate?
A: Sages participate to gain access to peer-driven intelligence and build Vendor relationships that help them make smarter technology decisions and adopt new technologies. Through Sagetap, they discover emerging solutions, validate ideas against real-world experience, connect with best-in-class teams—all on their terms, without sales pressure or unwanted follow-ups.
Sages engage at every stage of their adoption journey—from early exploration to active evaluation—and are transparent about their intent. After each session, they provide contextual, actionable feedback that helps Vendors refine their products and positioning. Sages receive credits for their insights, which they can redeem to connect with peers or withdraw for cash.
Q: What types of Vendors are invited to Sagetap?
A: Sagetap is exclusive to leading technology Vendors that align with our community's interests. We focus on high-growth, early-stage companies developing innovative approaches to Security, AI/ML, Engineering, IT, Data & Cloud—teams building products that genuinely solve the problems our Sages face.
Q: Who Typically Presents on Sagetap Sessions?
A: For earlier-stage companies, executives often present. For companies with more established sales teams, an Account Executive (AE) or Sales Engineer typically leads the conversation. In fact, many larger companies have their entire team of AEs manage their own pipelines, while their product and marketing teams leverage research calls to validate roadmap and messaging.
Q: How long does it take to get started?
A: Vendors are on average conducting meetings within one week of signing up for Sagetap. You can leverage Invites for immediate outbound, or expect to receive inbound applications to your listing within 3-5 days. For the most immediate results, we recommend inviting Sages to meet based on their active Initiatives.
Q: Are Sagetap sessions confidential?
A: Yes. All participants sign confidentiality agreements. Everything shared during Sagetap sessions cannot be shared or discussed externally.
If you prefer to keep your company name confidential, you can enable Stealth Mode, allowing Sages to meet with your team without revealing your organization's identity.
Q: Can we blacklist certain accounts?
A: Yes, you can blacklist specific accounts. Provide your Sagetap Customer Success Manager with a list of organizations you'd like to exclude, and we'll prevent Sages from those companies from applying to your Campaigns.
Q: What is an opt-in?
A: An opt-in occurs when a Sage expresses interest in your product after a session and chooses to reveal their identity and contact information to discuss next steps.
Once a Sage opts in, you can track the connection directly within Sagetap—from initial interest through POC to purchase. This gives you visibility into your pipeline and ensures seamless follow-through on high-intent conversations.
Can we contact a Sage if they don't opt in?
A: Yes. Sagetap includes a messaging feature that allows you to send a single message to a Sage who has not opted in.
If the Sage accepts your message, it opens up a two-way dialogue where you can continue the conversation. If the Sage does not accept, they will still see your message, but you cannot send additional messages. This allows you to re-engage thoughtfully while respecting the Sage's privacy and control over their experience.
You can learn more about Sage opt-ins in the Help Center article linked here.
Q: Can we schedule a follow-up meeting with a Sage who does not opt in?
A: Yes. You may schedule a follow-up session via Sagetap with a Sage who does not opt in. The follow-up session will cost the same as the initial session, and the Sage can remain anonymous.
Q: Do all Sages have real buying intent?
A: We take the quality of our Sage community extremely seriously.
Every Sage is required to verify their work email address to ensure they are actively employed and in a position to adopt new technology. They are also required to be transparent about their level of intent (e.g., "Exploring viability," "Building a business case," or "Active evaluation").
Sagetap is designed for technology leaders at all stages of their adoption journey. The most successful Vendors understand that not every Sage will be in an active buying cycle immediately, but by engaging transparently and building relationships early, they win the evaluation cycle later.
You can view a Sage's reputation on their profile, which measures a Sage’s quality based on aggregate feedback from Vendors they've met with. Learn more about Sage reputation here.
