Sagetap Messaging allows you to chat directly with a Sage once a connection has been made through a meeting proposal or acceptance.

You can use this feature to:

  • Confirm an agenda or meeting details

  • Share links or supporting information

  • Coordinate around scheduling

  • Follow up after a session with a thank-you or next steps

Note: Messaging is available even if the Sage has not shared their identity with you.

How It Works

Once a meeting is proposed or accepted, you can send or receive messages with the Sage. When you have a new message, a red dot will appear next to your Inbox in the navigation bar and beside the specific connection.

Click on the Sage to open the Activity Drawer:

Click on the Chat tab to read the message:

At the bottom of the drawer, you’ll see the chat interface:

Once you type and send your message, the chat will be open and ready.

Note: You can only send a single message until the other party responds. You can also start a chat by following the steps outlined above.

Best Practices

Sages join Sagetap to engage in productive and professional conversations. To maintain positive interactions, please follow these best practices:

  • Keep messages relevant, respectful, and professional.

  • Since the first message cannot be edited, include all key details in your initial note.

  • Use messaging to confirm meeting schedules, share follow-up materials, or thank the Sage after your session.

  • To maintain a positive experience, avoid sending multiple follow-ups. Sages can choose to block messaging if communication becomes too frequent.

Blocking

  • Any stakeholder with messaging access can block a Sage when needed.

  • Stakeholders can also unblock a Sage, and it does not have to be the same person who initiated the block.

  • When a chat is initiated, only one message can be sent until the other party responds.

Permissions

  • Admins and Members can initiate chats and send messages.

  • Guests have read-only access to chats.

Notifications

Each stakeholder in your workspace can set their personal email notification preferences.

There are two key settings:

  • Notify me of any new chat request

    • Sent immediately when a Sage sends a new chat request to your workspace.

  • Notify me of replies

    • A daily digest of unread replies will be sent every 24 hours to stakeholders who have participated in the conversation.

    • A reply is considered “read” once any member of the workspace has viewed it.

Formatting Tips

You can use Markdown to format your messages, including:

  • Bold or italic text

  • Bulleted lists

  • Blockquotes

  • Links

Note: 📎 Images and file uploads are not supported at this time.
