Maintain an Accurate Profile
Keep your profile current and truthful so you receive the most relevant vendor and peer matches.
Accurately represent your role, company size, and industry: Outdated or misleading profiles result in poor matches and wasted time
Update your profile when circumstances change: Role changes, company transitions, or shifting priorities should be reflected immediately
Keep your areas of interest current: This ensures vendors can prepare relevant conversations
Accurate profiles ensure you get the most relevant matches and the most valuable conversations.
Be Transparent About Your Stage and Intent
It's absolutely acceptable to be "Just Learning." However, you must be transparent about where you are in your journey.
Select an accurate intent level in every application: Use "High," "Medium," or "Low" to reflect your genuine level of intent.
Clearly describe your stage in every Initiative: Use terms like "Exploring viability," "Building a business case," "Active evaluation," or "Staying informed."
Apply only to opportunities that align with genuine interests: High-volume applications without clear alignment signal lack of intent and may trigger an account review
Be honest about your timeline and budget situation: This helps vendors tailor their approach to deliver maximum value at your stage
Vendors prepare for conversations based on the information you provide. Transparency ensures every interaction is relevant and valuable for both parties.
Engage with High Integrity
Vendors are paying for your time and expertise. Show up prepared, engaged, and present.
Review the vendor's or Sage's profile before the call: Come prepared with relevant questions
Stay engaged throughout the discussion: No multitasking or distracted behavior
Be professional and courteous: Treat every interaction with the respect you expect in return
Come ready to contribute: Your expertise and attention create value for everyone
High-integrity engagement ensures productive conversations and maintains the quality of the Sagetap community. Disengagement or lack of preparation can damage your reputation on the platform.
Provide Thoughtful Feedback
Your feedback is one of the most valuable parts of the platform. We ask that it be specific, actionable, and relevant to the vendor and their product. Vague or copy-paste responses don’t add value.
If a vendor flags your feedback as incomplete or unhelpful multiple times, we may reach out to understand the situation and work with you on improving future submissions.
Please submit feedback within 72 hours of completing a call.
Honor Your Commitments
Your reliability builds trust and creates productive relationships. When you engage with Vendors and Peers on Sagetap, you commit to:
Show up for scheduled calls: Minimize cancellations and reschedules
Respond to follow-ups within your stated timeline: Your Opt-in Responsiveness is visible on your profile and reflects your reliability
Communicate changes promptly: If your interest changes, notify the vendor as soon as possible with a brief explanation
Always follow up after opting in: Ensure you respond to Vendors by your opt-in deadline. If things change, send a brief note explaining why. Respectful closure is far better than disappearing.
Note: Your Opt-in Responsiveness is visible on your Sage profile and reflects your reliability.
Timely follow-ups build trust and productive conversations, while missed responses can negatively affect your reputation on the platform. By staying engaged, you help preserve the value of the Sagetap network for everyone.
Avoid Existing Vendor Relationships & Conflicts of Interest
Professional boundaries ensure fair, honest interactions and protect both you and the platform.
Avoid vendors with existing relationships: Don't apply if you already have active sales conversations with them outside Sagetap (marketing emails and conference booths don't count; recent calls or email exchanges do)
Avoid conflicts of interest: Don't engage with vendors who are direct competitors of your current employer or affiliated organization
Respect confidentiality: Follow the Chatham House Rule—you can use insights from discussions, but you may not attribute them to individuals or share them publicly
Protect your identity: If using anonymity or identity protection settings, honor those boundaries in conversations
Sages are encouraged to report conflicts of interest or identity-probing behavior. Violations will be addressed promptly at Sagetap's discretion.
Use AI Responsibly
We understand AI tools can be helpful for proofreading or refining ideas, but feedback and applications should reflect your authentic perspective. Relying on AI to fully generate responses or create generic content does not provide the insight vendors are seeking and can diminish the value of your expertise.
If AI use is flagged, we will reach out for clarification before taking any action.
Maintain a Positive, Respectful Environment
A respectful environment ensures everyone can learn and contribute productively.
You commit to:
Communicate with courtesy and professionalism: In all vendor and peer interactions
Keep posts relevant to the community's purpose: Avoid political content, spam, or self-promotion
Maintain zero tolerance for misconduct: No hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory behavior will be tolerated
Sages are encouraged to report violations. All reports are reviewed promptly and fairly.

If you encounter behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it to the Sagetap team. We will review all reports promptly and fairly.
Accountability and Enforcement
Our goal is education and collaboration first, not punishment. If we notice behavior patterns that don’t align with these guidelines, we will reach out to you to discuss.
However, repeated or severe violations may result in temporary suspension, withholding of payment, or removal from the platform.
